Take a breather: 좀 쉬어
It is used to suggest that someone take a short break from something they are doing, usually in order to re-energize or de-stress.
Example
It's been a long day - why don't you take a breather and get some rest?
Blank on=draw a blank on, blank out: 잊어버리다
It is possible that it is used informally in spoken English, but it is not standard or appropriate for written language.
Example
I'm trying to remember the name of that restaurant, but I'm drawing a blank on it.
During the exam, I completely blanked out and couldn't remember any of the answers.
I totally blanked. - It’s okay. Don't sweat it

Useful conversational phrases with ‘thing’
The informal phrase the thing is introduces a fact that is relevant to a situation, often because it could cause difficulties.
Example
I’d invite Olivia too but the thing is, she doesn’t get on with Lucy.
I’d join you but the thing is, I have to be home by nine o’clock.
